It was the perfect place to break our long journey to Scotland
he friendliness of the staff and the serivce. The bar was reasonably priced and the fod was very good value.
more luxury if they can add spa also . also the price will expect little bit low
location was really good. view was good.
The views from the bedroom windows were fantastic and we could hear the stream outside which was very relaxing. Full English breakfast was really good and the staff were very helpful.
peaceful surroundings, quiet hotel, good for relaxing
The hotel bar was closed for a private party and other residents were pushed into a small but cold back bar that didn't have drinks stocked in it, felt very put out over this
The grounds were beautiful. The furnishings downstairs were lovely and decor grand
the bathroom loads of mildew. Antiquated shower in bath. No comfortable chairs in room to sit on
bed small but comfortable, good value for a mid week break
The staff were uniformly charming and the hotel quiet and comfortable
Beautiful building in overwhelming surroundings, I didnt know this type of place was still around
Due to the creaking floorboards in the corridor areas, It is difficult to avoid other guests disturbing you if they are walking around late, or up early
The countryside views were fantastic and the hotel is well equipped to cope. Food also was good quality and plenty of it. Very helpful staff.
Two issues. The lift was not working and this was a big problem (I travelled with my elderly mother who just coped - others were struggling more). Whilst there was a letter of apology on the door basically the hotels location / clientele means the lift ought never be out of action. It did present a real difficulty. Also the lane is awkward. I drove out at twilight to Shap, only to meet a coach (on the one blind bend on a slope) coming the other way - having to reverse when you cannot see the passing places or how wide they are was not pleasant. Could the passing places be illuminated by lighting?
Attentive reception staff. Attractive location.
Very creaky floors - seems all the boards have been lifted but not screwed down. Could hear anyone on same floor getting up during the night and making even one or two steps.
